Blog 03: Hunting Island, SC Campground

The beach is always on our list of travel for the year because not only is it absolutely gorgeous and relaxing but it’s Brandon’s absolute favorite place. Hunting Island, South Carolina, was Brandon’s childhood. Every year him and his family would pile into their small 4-door sedan, windows down, oldies music blasting with his dad singing at the top of his lungs. These are memories that never leave him and play in his head every drive down there.

Going to the beach in a van or camper can be tricky though. Unless you don’t mind sleeping at a Publix or a Walmart…odds are you’re going to have to pay for a camp site or RV park.

Luckily, Hunting Island (right outside the town of Beaufort), has a gorgeous RV campground. It has all of the hook-ups you need for an extra boost of juice as well as a small store that has some camping essentials if you run out of anything you need. Some of the campsites are so close to the beach, it feels like you’re parked right on it! Going to sleep with the ocean breeze blowing through with the smell of salt in the air—it doesn’t get any better than that. You may even get lucky and see some wildlife cruise through your site like deer, lizards and turtles and if you head to the beach you may even catch sight of some sea turtles and dolphins! Oh and it’s dog friendly!! It really couldn’t get any better than that.

Though the Hunting Island Campground can be a little pricey and sometimes flood during rainy season, it’s definitely one to add to your list if you’re heading to the East Coast.

Please park responsibly.
